With Stage, we have the power to provide our students with immersive and interactive learning opportunities. We are incredibly grateful for the impact Stage has on our college, empowering us to embrace new technologies and deliver a truly innovative learning environment"

Caroline Reid

Innovative Education in Action

Bishop Burton College, one of the UK’s leading providers of land-based education, is at the forefront of blending traditional learning with immersive technology.

As a specialist in agriculture, animal management, and equine studies, the college has always been committed to providing its students with the most hands-on, real-world learning experiences.

Recognising the power of immersive technology, the college partnered with Stage to bring Immersive learning into their teaching approach, further enhancing their innovative teaching methods.

Supporting T-levels with Immersive Learning

In recognition of T Level Celebration Week, T Level Agriculture, Land Management and Production students from Bishop Burton College and Riseholme College met in a purpose-built virtual classroom using Stage.

Caroline Reid, who is the driving force behind the creation of virtual reality learning environments at the colleges explained what the students experienced. "This particular room has been designed to provide students with a fun, engaging and inspiring introduction to learning in an entirely new way and collaborate with peers at a different campus. The digital world offers endless possibilities, bridging the gap between technology and the realities of working on a farm. Through the virtual environment, students gain access to tools and experiences that not only complement their hands-on training but also prepare them to excel as forward-thinking agricultural professionals. In honour of T Level students from both campuses coming together, there is a ‘ribbon cutting’ to mark the occasion and a fun farm environment for the students to build and work on together.

Askham Bryan College

Award-Winning success story with Stage

"The interactive nature of virtual reality transforms students from passive to active learners, boosting their motivation and giving them greater control over their learning pace. I’ve seen notable improvements in retention and achievement in modules where immersive technology has been used.”

Innovative Education in Action

Askham Bryan College, a leading land-based college in York, offers a wide range of T-Level courses, including Agriculture, Animal Management, Motorsport, and Veterinary Nursing.

Using Stage, staff and students have been able to create their own immersive learning experiences, transforming traditional teaching, coursework and assessment into engaging, interactive environments. From designing animal enclosures and forensic scenarios to exploring practical learning in virtual reality, Stage has enabled educators to create curriculum-led experiences that can be shared across departments and campuses.

An Award Winning Case study:

The college's pioneering approach to immersive learning using Stage has received national recognition. Its Digital Skills Academy was awarded the Digital Futures category at the UK & Ireland Green Gown Awards, with judges praising the way technology had been embedded across the curriculum to improve accessibility, sustainability and the student experience.

Today, Stage continues to support Askham Bryan College in delivering immersive, future-focused education that equips learners with the digital skills and practical experience needed for industry.

"Through these technologies we are able to create unique and sustainable learning experiences, developed in house by the teachers, students, and our e-learning co-ordinator. These experiences can be shared across our campuses and are truly limitless in design and cater for any and all subjects, limiting the need to travel or using resources. They are also amendable, so will never be old and out of date. We can forever make changes and amends, making our mixed reality approach future proof and sustainable"
